Welcome to the Pit Bull Diet! Pete the Pup with Stymie and Wheezer of Our Gang

Welcome, yes, and congratulations, too, because you've just arrived at a site that may very well change your life!

The Pit Bull Diet is a spectacularly simple and easy-to-follow program for losing weight, getting fit, and, best of all, having fun in the process. A combination of common sense and solid science, with a dash of levity, makes this program succeed where so many others fail.

On the Pit Bull Diet, you will eat what you like—just not by the bushel or barrel!—and your exercise regimen will be no more strenuous than a brisk daily walk through your neighborhood.

And speaking of that brisk daily walk, what makes the Pit Bull Diet unique, and uniquely effective, is that it's designed to be a team effort consisting of you and an adoring support group of one—your dog! Not only will both of you get some fresh air and a nice cardiovascular workout, you'll also be developing and nurturing a solid bond with each other and, equally important, relieving the enormous frustration that dogs tend to pile up when locked for long periods behind interior walls and backyard fences.

Another perk to walking with your dog every day is that you'll create a rare opportunity for yourself to literally stop and smell the roses—not to mention the gardenias and lavender—an exquisite pleasure our busy lives tend to leave behind. You may even find yourself making a new friend, a nearby neighbor you've never paused long enough to meet before. Truly, the rewards of the Pit Bull Diet add up to a win-win on every front!

Okay, but why a pit bull?

Before we answer that question, first we must confess that your Pit Bull Diet teammate doesn't actually have to be an American Pit Bull Terrier, or even his close AKC cousin, the American Staffordshire Terrier.

In fact, a Dalmatian, Doberman, or Dingo will do just fine, as will a Pekingese, Poodle, or Pug. Truth be told, the humblest mutt on the block is just as able and qualified for this assignment as any of the highfalutin breeds.

So, then, back to the original question: Why a pit bull? First, we at PBD adore the American Pit Bull Terrier. So did all of America once upon a time, before a few ugly owners sullied her once-proud reputation. Second, because far too much negative, one-sided press has been heaped upon this noble and loving breed, we decided to make it our mission to rehabilitate the honorable standing of the APBT in the canine community. Third and last, this is, after all, a program dedicated to health and fitness. Take a close look at an American Pit Bull Terrier. What finer role model is there for the pinnacle of physical fitness than one of the buffest pups around? Pits rule!
